IP geolocation is approximate and does not represent an exact address or device location.

What is an IP lookup?

An IP lookup provides approximate geographic and network information associated with an internet address. Results can include country, region, city, ISP and timezone data.

Location data is approximate and should not be used to identify a precise address or person.

How to interpret IP lookup results

IP lookup data is best used for network troubleshooting, fraud review, content localization and general traffic analysis. It can identify the country, region, city, timezone and organization commonly associated with an IP address, but it usually cannot identify an exact street address.

Mobile networks, VPNs, corporate gateways and cloud providers can make results look different from the user's physical location. For example, a phone on a mobile carrier may appear near a carrier routing point, and a VPN may show the VPN server location instead of the device.

Why is my IP location wrong?

Geolocation databases are estimates built from routing, registry and provider data. They can be outdated or intentionally broad. Use IP location as a clue, not as proof of a person's exact location.

Can I look up IPv6 addresses?

Yes. The tool supports IPv4 and IPv6 inputs when the lookup provider has data for the address.
